Director Export Xtra for Java

Authoring Requirements

The Director Export Xtra for Java requires the following:

• Director 6.0.2. The Xtra won't work with previous versions of Director, including Director 6.0 and 6.0.1.
• Windows 95, Windows NT4, or Power Macintosh. The Xtra won't work on Macintosh 680x0 versions of Director 6.
• To run Director, a browser, and at the same time compile movies as Java requires at least 48MB RAM, 64MB recommended. You may get by with less if you quit Director while testing applets in a browser--having at least 10 MB free while compiling is a good idea.

Installation

BE SURE TO INSTALL DIRECTOR 6.0.2 BEFORE INSTALLING THE XTRA.

Quit Director before running the installer.

The install directory/folder should be the directory where the Director 6 application is, NOT the Xtras folder next to the application. The installer should find this directory automatically, but it also allows you to install elsewhere. In the latter case, the installer will create a folder called Director Export Xtra for Java which will contain all needed files as well as a document that explains how to do a manual installation.

Check the online help for information on using the Xtra. Select "Save as Java" from the file menu and click the "Help" button in the dialog box.

If you click the "Help" button on the Save As Java dialog and nothing happens, make sure that you have a Preferred Browser set in the File:Preferences:Network dialog, and that the Launch When Needed option is checked.
