ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA - LIVE AT THE CIVIC HALL - GUILDFORD - 7th MAY 1972 TRACK LIST: 1. 10538 Overtue 2. Queen Of The Hours 3. From The Sun To The World (Boogie # 1) 4. First Movement (Jumping Biz) 5. Dear Elaine 6. Great Balls Of Fire 7. In old england Town (Boogie # 2) This is the only known complete concert recording by the first ELO line up, featuring Roy Wood, Known to exist. It is mentioned in the sleeve notes of the remastered version of ELO's first album as existing only as part of a private collection. It would seem that the private collector has finally let it loose, up to now I have never seen it available for download in any format. Although the show is under an hour long, it is a complete show; they got away with murder in those days. The recording quality is around VG to start with but the quality improves to near excellent by the end of track one. During the quite parts and after applause from a very polite crowd you could almost hear a pin drop With only one album released you would think the show would all come from that but you get only four tracks from that, an early version of a track that was not recorded till their second album, a cover of Jerry Lee Lewis’s Great Balls Of Fire and the only known version of ELO performing Dear Elaine, a song that was to be a solo hit for Roy Wood in later years. The band used to alternate Between Dear Elaine and the song Whisper In The Night, from one show to the next. Lucky they chose Dear Elaine on this occasion or an ELO version would probably never been heard.
